Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior official stated the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
